It’s out with the standard smokey eye and in with sultry, dark maroon this season. Valentino showcased this deep maroon look at Fashion Week, daring in its use of rich colour on lips and eyes. It’s a twist on the classic, evening ‘femme fatale’ look, and it’s not as tricky to achieve as it seems.

Butter London Nail Laquer in Ruby Murray

This look is about daring pops of colour, and how better to introduce these than with a great nail lacquer? Butter London products are bright, bold and totally free of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor and formaldehyde resin. They’re a fantastic, safe alternative to mainstream nail products and this particular shade ties into a smoky maroon look perfectly.

Eye of Horus Goddess Eyeliner Pencil

aEOH-PencilsBlack_grandeMaroon is the key colour here, but this look calls for a great eyeliner to tie it all together. The name ‘Eye of Horus’ pays homage to an ancient Egyptian goddess, and their eyeliner is as heavenly as it sounds. It glides on smooth and doesn’t smudge throughout the day, leaving the eye clearly defined. The pencil contains natural Beeswax, Carnuba and Candelilla with none of the nasties found in many pencils.

BITE Beauty Multistick in Cerise

Like many Fashion Week looks this year, it’s the BITE Beauty Multistick that proves the most useful here. Vegan and totally natural, the Multistick can be used on the lips, eyes or cheeks as easily as any powder. It means you can achieve the same shade of maroon wherever on your face it’s needed, with a superior level of control. The Multistick also lasts for ages on the skin, keeping your colour bold and beautiful as long as you need it to!
