Essential oils are amazing powerhouses used to naturally enhance your health, positively affect your mood and can even enhance your cooking! Every essential oil has its own unique therapeutic benefits, cultivated by the plant from the soil, climate and atmosphere in which it grew. This week, we check out the unique properties of doTerra black pepper essential oil.

Black pepper is a climbing vine native to India and the oil is extracted from it's tiny fruit. This essential oil is one of my all time favourites to have on hand because of all its amazing, versatile benefits.

Black pepper's chemical makeup consists of natural chemicals known for their antioxidant activity and their ability to support the immune system and support healthy cell function.

Well known in ayurveda to aid digestion, it's also antispasmodic, analgesic and anticatarrhal - meaning it's great to use whenever there are phlegmy, congestion-causing bugs making the rounds.

This oil has powerful energetic and emotional benefits, and is often referred to as an 'oil of unmasking', helping you dig deep to uncover and address any repressed feelings.

In fact, it's so useful for emotional healing that it's often an important component to holistic healing for addictions and compulsive behaviour, helping to bring emotions to the surface to be dealt with and fixed. Try using this if you're trying to kick a smoking habit.

If you're after a little bit of emotional honesty, self-awareness and motivation (or even just a tasty way to aid good digestion), black pepper essential oil is the fix for you.
