Essential oils naturally enhance your health, positively affect your mood and can even add depth of flavour to your food. Every essential oil has its own unique benefits stemming from it's ability to cope in the environment in which it grew. They're liquid powerhouses ready to work however you need them to. This week, we check out the benefits of doTerra bergamot essential oil.

Believe it or not, citrus fruits aren't all created equal. Doterra's co-impact sourcing program, means that they not only know where the oils come from, they help sustain the growers and their communities by ensuring they're paid fair wages and have the best equipment. Doterra bergamot comes from a passionate family business in Sicily and Reggio di Calabria. This one of the most delicate, unique citrus fruits around and has been used in Italy and Greece for centuries as a relaxing, skin rejuvenating essential oil and even as a way to add a bit of flavour traditional foods. It's what gives Earl Grey tea it's distinctive flavour.

In terms aromatherapy and natural wellness though, bergamot essential oil is best known as 'the oil of self-acceptance'. It's both calming and uplifting, helping to soothe nerves and lift moments of low self-esteem by promoting optimism and confidence.

That's not where its uses stop either - bergamot essential oil works wonders on the skin too. Bergamot helps to soothe and purify problem skin, making it a popular ingredient in many cosmetics. Warning though, this oil is phototoxic, meaning it reacts with sunlight, so must be used with caution and avoid sun exposure after topical application.

Add a bottle of bergamot essential oil to your collection to stay happy, healthy and positively radiant.
