Organic skincare NZ - are we home to some of the world’s best brands?

It's easy to overlook the skincare miracles happening in your own backyard, so we’ve grouped together our favourite organic skincare NZ brands in one spot!

In New Zealand we’re surrounded by products from everywhere else, but the truth is some of the best natural skincare is made right here. Maybe it’s all our gorgeous, native plants or just something fresh in the Kiwi water. Whatever the reason, there’s definitely something a little bit magic about organic skincare in Aotearoa.

At Belle & Sage we’re lucky enough to stock heaps of incredible New Zealand-based organic skincare ranges. Here are the top 5 to watch out for!

Girl Undiscovered 100% Wild Skincare

Organic Skincare NZ Girl Undiscovered

This elegant, empowering, and genuinely daring skincare brand is giving back to the same global communities that inspire it, and we’re all about that!

Girl Undiscovered 100% Wild Skincare is an idea hatched by a team of three inspiring women. Combined, they’ve pulled off a gorgeous range of organic skincare made with wild, natural ingredients that cherishes the freedom and energy of women.

It’s skincare free of pesticides or plantations, preferring to work closely with families and farmers abroad to empower and enhance. This also means every ingredient can be traced back to its source and vouched for.

With exotic ingredients like Burmese Thanaka and Balinese Coconut Oil, as well as native New Zealand Kanuka Honey, Girl Undiscovered surprises and delights. If organic skincare NZ is a trend, this is definitely its hottest new star.

Tier for Teens

Organic Skincare NZ Tier

Now here’s a seriously clever natural solution for pesky, teenage skin! Rather than using synthetic chemicals, Tier for Teens harnesses the power of nature to cleanse, balance and tone.

Hormonal teenage skin is completely normal, but rapid production of estrogen or testosterone can mean over-active sebaceous glands. This is what causes oily and sometimes spotty skin, something conventional skincare brands combat by stripping away natural oils entirely.

More often than not this leads to more breakouts, which is where Tier for Teens’ organic skincare NZ comes in.

Rather than stripping away the skin’s natural oils, Tier for Teens gently cleanses using plant-based oils to provide balance. It means the skin will never have more oil than it needs while staying healthy.

We also love that Tier for Teens has something for every skin type, from oily to dry, to have young faces feeling ship shape in no time!

Organic Skincare NZ Nahaia

The name ‘Nahaia’ means ‘journey to eternal love’, and that’s exactly what this New Zealand brand is all about. This is all-natural, organic skincare that can be used at any stage of life to show your skin just how much you love it.

Nahaia treats the skin with a combination of natural, concentrated ingredients for proven and lasting results. The company as a whole operates under the belief that healthy, organic foods are the key to good health and that the skin should also be well fed.

Their products contain many organic ingredients derived from foods, like grape, macadamia nut and coconut cream for well-nourished, happy skin.

Frankie Apothecary

Organic Skincare NZ Frankie

Frankie Apothecary is a god-send for Kiwis with sensitive skin. By harnessing the natural power of the New Zealand bush, Frankie Apothecary soothes and heals effectively.

Using native products like kawakawa, the whole range is suitable for even the most finicky skin, which is especially useful during summer when skin is dry and mozzies are out.

In fact, one of our favourite Frankie Apothecary products doubles as both a sunscreen and an insect repellent! With Raspberry Seed Oil, Shea Butter and Coconut Oil the cream glides on easily and smells incredible – a far cry from most bug repellents and sunscreens.

In our humble opinion, this is definitely one brand you’d regret not jumping onboard with over summer.

organic-skincare-nz-snowberryAlways a crowd favourite, Snowberry is one of New Zealand’s most successful organic skincare go-to’s.

It’s a brand inspired by the delicate balance between pure, natural ingredients and proven, science-based results. Snowberry makes use of scientifically proven anti-aging compounds, but is still opposes cheap ‘filler’ ingredients.

No Snowberry products are tested on animals and they’re all Carbon Neutral NZ Certified. It’s just as well too, because once you buy one Snowberry product it’s pretty hard to stop!

As a New Zealand organic skincare brand, Snowberry also makes ample use of our gorgeous native flora. Their range features all sorts of local plants including puka and harakeke. We can’t think of a better use for our beloved Kiwi bush ingredients!

Zoo Skincare

Zoo isn’t just a skincare brand, it also makes some of the best natural deodorant around. It’s formulated with active, natural ingredients like Coconut Oil, Arrowroot and Cacay Oil and is completely vegan and cruelty-free.

It’s also a brand that goes an extra step further when it comes to caring for animals and the environment. 50 cents from every Zoo purchase goes towards The Orangutan Project, supporting things like orangutan conservation and rainforest protection in order to save the species from extinction.

The entire initiative is a brilliant example of New Zealand ingenuity – fantastic natural products that creatively supports an important cause.
