It’s hard to find a mascara that works well, but it’s even harder to find one that’s good for your lashes too.

Eye Of Horus Bio Mascara ticks all of our boxes and then some. It’s an all natural mascara  that nourishes your lashes and looks blimmin’ incredible to boot. Sounds like the perfect mascara to unpack and explain a little, right? Here’s what we found out:

It’s kind to your lashes and kind to animals

Eye Of Horus is an Australian brand, and operates out of beautiful Byron Bay. Inspired by the ancient Egyptians (‘the originators of beauty and mystique), they created an illuminating line of cruelty-free eye makeup. This means that all of the lovely, natural ingredients they use have only ever been tested on humans.

What’s more, this particular product is totally vegan, with no animal products or their derivatives used to create it at all. Other Eye Of Horus products contain beeswax, but their Bio Mascara is a sweeter relief for those aiming to eliminate animal products.

It’s got two awesomely effective natural ingredients

Years ago people may have only used mascara to darken their lashes, but that doesn’t mean we have to settle for makeup that only has one function. We’re increasingly demanding products that enhance and nourish our natural beauty, and brands like Eye Of Horus are delivering.

Eye Of Horus Bio Mascara contains plant-derived collagen (Galactoarabinan) and Oarweed Extract for a mascara that lengthens lashes and promotes growth as well as darkening and defining. Both aid growth naturally by improving the health of your lashes, rather than using synthetic chemicals to disrupt bodily function. It’s a little like how our Mums told us that if we ate our veggies we’d grow big and strong. Adequate nutrition was enough to make us taller, trumping suggestions of hopping in a stretching machine or donning killer heels.

Galactoarabinan is a collagen derived from North American Larch trees, and is both bio-available and biodegradable. As well as moisturising and exfoliating old cells, Galactoarabinan helps disperse nourishing minerals onto your lashes. This helps make sure they have all the healthy bits and pieces they need to thrive and grow.

Oarweed also works as a natural remedy for hair loss and effective way to promote lash growth. It’s the proper name for that thick, brown seaweed that you find everywhere at the beach! Because it comes from the sea, Oarweed is chocka-block full of lash nourishing goodies including potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron as well as vitamins A, B3, B6, C, E and B12.

It’s impossible not to love

With Eye Of Horus Bio Mascara it’s quite literally ‘all good’. An animal-friendly, effective mascara packed full of nourishing, natural ingredients. Check it out right here and snag yourself one before they disappear. A new favourite of ours here at Belle & Sage HQ too!
